One Year of Success at IFCH
October 17th marked the one year anniversary of the The International Friendship Children's Hospital! Congratulations to everyone who has contributed to the building of this hospital. The beginning stages of a new project are always the most difficult, and IFCH would like to thank everyone for their support.
Board members, shareholders, patients and staff gathered to celebrate the achievements and progress of the hospital. The event commenced with a visit by the Hospital Director, senior and junior nursing staff and some guests to the wards to see all the admitted patients. The babies were presented with Tihar treats and balloons to brighten the day. There were many smiles in the different wards hospital, which is always a goal at IFCH.
There was a brief presentation held in the newly expanded courtyard. A warm welcome and a report on the progress of the hospital was given by Dr. Shanta Shakya. The data he shared included increased patient numbers every month, and a high level of patient satisfaction. A senior nurse read a poem about the importance of good nursing in health care. A member of the Board of Directors reported on the work that the Board has been doing to run the hospital in a more efficient manner. This was followed by a packed-lunch for all who attended.
The hospital has grown exponentially during the year. It is first private co-operative children's hospital institution in Nepal dedicated solely to children. It has recently expanded with a new wing for an ENT OPD, a Dental OPD and a physiotherapy room. It has also expanded with 2 more visitors rooms for mothers and fathers to stay close to their children at times of need. We have also created a new changing area for our staff. The success of the hospital is allowing it to purchase more equipment each month to better serve patients and increase the quality of pediatric care available in Nepal. This could not have been accomplished without the hard work of staff members and investment by shareholders.
We look to the future with great promise. IFCH is not yet running at full capacity, and there are ways that we can serve our patients better. The progress is one year is astounding, and the next year will undoubtly be filled with many more successes. We are confident that we will reach our goal of creating high quality health care for ALL children. Thank you again for your support.
